The situation

The Brief

WGU is one of the largest universities in the United States. Their leadership moves fast and operates at a high level. For three years, I was the photographer they trusted to keep up.

Diagnosis

The Problem

Great commercial photography doesn't start with a camera, it starts with understanding what a brand is failing to communicate and why.

They Already Had a Creative Team

WGU had internal creatives. But they still needed someone else in the room for the moments that counted most.

No Consistency

Rotating freelancers mean starting from zero every time. No understanding of the brand, the people, or what's at stake.

Access Without Readiness

Getting in the room isn't the hard part. Delivering when you're there, no direction, no retakes, is.

The Work

What Changes When They Trust You

Most photographers get a brief and a shoot day. At WGU, the relationship grew with the institution. That proximity changed the work. Knowing the people, understanding what each moment meant, and being trusted to handle it without hand-holding, that's what made the difference. The access wasn't given. It was earned.
